Day 1–Leaving Home–Sylvan Lake RV Park, Hopewell Junction, NY

on Sunday, May 17, 2015

I woke at 2 am this morning and was unable to get back to sleep. Some nights are just not worth going to bed. By 7 am I would have liked to gone to sleep for the day but we are packed and ready to head to NY.

By the time we finished last minute loading, had breakfast at I-Hop and finally got on the road it was 11 am.  So much for leaving early! LOL

We both thought it would be an easy 198 mile drive but were quite surprised that it was a very slow going, traffic stopping drive that took over five hours to accomplish.  The traffic was brutal and the slow downs’ painstaking.

Because trucks and MH’s are not allowed on the Parkways in NY we had to travel around 15 miles in a big loop and double back to the CG. We arrived at Sylvan Lake Park at around 4:45 pm got set up and had a light dinner. It was 84 degrees with high humidity, so a bit uncomfortable. We had to run the AC just to cool down – unusual at this time of the year.

The CG is quite nice but very deserted. It appears that it was once a happening place but not so much now – or maybe it’s because it’s too early in the season.

Jewel enjoyed walking around the CG and finding new things to sniff.

Back at the MH we set up our laptops only to find very slow intermittent internet access and no cell phone signal. I managed to get a couple of e-mails out before losing our signal all together. Definitely won’t be able to get the blog out until we have good access.

We have one  TV station so watched a couple of I Love Lucy’s reruns before going to bed. We will be going to the Home and Presidential Library of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the morning. Looking forward to  a good day.
